Intermittent shuddering at 60mph - insufficient revs?

Well looks like another problem has veered its head with my Insignia 160 cdti. Whilst joining the motoroway and slowly accelerating to 60mph, I changed into 5th at about 2000 rpm and the car began to shudder as if the revs were too slow for the gear. I released the accelerator and I could steel feel the shudder, the revs were bouncing. I accelerated and it stopped at about 2500 rpm but then came back as i tried changing up. I had to drop to 4th at 60mph to stop it, went on for a minute or so and then stopped.. I managed to get up to 6th with no trouble. This is the 3rd time its happened whilst cruising in a month. I also get the feeling the car isnt feeling as comfortable and smooth as usual, as if the road surface is really bumpy yet I'm sure it isnt as bad as it feels.. I also mentioned in a previous thread about the steering wheel vibrating when braking from speed.... Need to get it to the dealers next week, but worries me as these intermittent problems are difficult to resolve!

Would tend to agree, the DMF is starting to develop issues.

Re: Intermittent shuddering at 60mph - insufficient revs?

Dealers had it for a day, couldn't find anything wrong though! No error codes, nowt, mentioned the DMF but they said all signs I described were not consistent with the DMF as would feel problems at idle and through the clutch pedal. Also got them to check brakes as noticed steering wheel vibrating on heavy braking, again didnt find anything..... oh well....

The vibration sounds very much like a warped disk if it was the wheel balance youd feel it all the time.

I had warped disks on my old Astra. It would vibrate loads when brakeing at speed.

Theres definately something not right with the accelerator set-up on many Insignia's and it seems to be due to the electronics/ computer.
Ive had my 1.8 in the dealers 3times and nothing could be found.
It was remapped but since it still takes a notion to rev up,usually when in the process of changing gear. It will behave perfectly for a month or two and then suddenly it does it. This lasts just for a few seconds then it settles back to normal.

Re: Intermittent shuddering at 60mph - insufficient revs?

bet my bottom dollar there will be a ecu update for this, its a software issue and the reason you are being fobbed off is because zee germans have not yet developed a fix for this.. a blocked diesel filter can give similar symtoms, however the likelyhood of this being block on a new car with less than 40k k is minimal
