My glove box light wasnt working the other night when I opened it so obviously thought it was the bulb. Took the fitting out today and the very simple switch mechanism is melted into a blob on the bottom of the bulb housing, the bulb itself has popped out of the clips and i cant find it (its rolling about somewhere in the dash) and the white plastic switch part is a blacky brown burnt colour! Think this could have been alot worse as parts have started to melt!

Stealers were shut today but ill be getting this, my grooved rear brake discs, missing wheel nut covers and DPF sorted when I book it in next week!

If anyone else wants to check their glovebox light to see if its a common fault the light just pulls out from the front, downwards. Would be interesting to see if its just mine!

That sounds like it could've been serious!

Im not sure, its a very simple switch, when you shut the glove box, the lid pushes a piece of plastic which should turn the light off, guessing its not been working properly though!

Strange as most modern Vauxhalls turn off interior lights left on after about an hour or so - certainly my Zafira does.

As does my astra. Its in the dealers for the whole week this week with a list of 10 different faults and what I want them to do about each one. Hopefully they will all be sorted!
