View Full Version : Water in below rear doors
Anyone else had this problem, after heavy rain if you open the rear door from outside a flood of water lands on your feet. We have had 3 Insignia (hire cars) and they all have suffered this.
My own Insignia went in for a recall and the service guy said there was also a recall for this problem. The solution was to cut a V out of the rubber seal at bottom of the doors and another from the diagonal edge of the door. I was not too pleased about this but they said it was the fix.
When I questioned Vauxhall about this they had no info about a recall for this. It soved the problem of water gathering, but how is it getting in?

I had a recall to do with door seals. I think they replaced them on mine.
Could you check to see if there are Vs cut out from bottom rubber and diagonal rubber?

I notice the bottom outer corner of my driver door doesnt look entirely flush with the rear door hinge edge... anyone else noticed this? I cannot imagine its bent as it is very strong, the seals are quite thick and spongy. Of course I am only talking mm but its like a picture hanging not straight, I tend to home in on those things!

Thanks for this, email winging it's way to vauxhall now
Got a call from vauxhall today re the email I sent about water gathering in the door sills. They would be interested to know how I got the technical bulletin as it is not for customer use. They also are working on a solution to stop water getting in in the first place so could be another recall. The mods to the seals is just a temp fix.

Same here, Vauxhall garge was more intrested in where I obtained the technical bulletin, then said they have never received any notification from Vauxhall about this problem but did say that have had a recall about the quarter panel at the rear needs looking at, maybe this is the problem to the water entering the door seals, time will tell

The quarter panel is a different issue. I recently took my car in to have warning light reset. At the same time had two recalls done, the steering lock and the quarter panel, which just ivolves putting in a spacer, apparently the gap is too close. I asked about the water gathering and the response was we could cut the 'v' in the seal but a permanent solution is being developed and we, (vauxhall) would rather wait, but will do it if you insist. At this point I have left it but will keep monitoring.
Has any one had this done, my dealer has put holes in the seals around the door opening of the car not the lower part of the doors
